Product Details

.223 Remington was introduced in 1962 and was derived from the company’s .222 caliber but intended for military use. It was quickly adopted for use to the new AR platform and service, but also became a very popular varmint hunting and target shooting round. Its versatility is coupled by its various bullet weights for different applications along with it being able to be fired in chambers based upon it such as the 5.56x45mm (NATO). Heavier bullets (62 or more grains) are often fired out of slower twist barrels for longer range accuracy in competitive matches or hunting. This 72 grain soft point bullet by Speer can leave the muzzle at up to 2775 feet per second with 1282 foot pound of energy making it an ideal varmint hunting or even a tactical, precision rifle round.

Speer’s reputation for bullet making was well established in the 1960’s and is often what is used by custom handloaders for their own rounds. Gold Dot, however, offers the complete cartridge made to company standards to ensure each and every shot performs as the last. Ideal for use when each and every shot needs to count. Boxer primed, nickel plated cases are reloadable for further value.
