Speer Gold Dot 9mm 124 Grain +P Short-Barrel HP
Speer
Product Details
When Georg Luger introduced his 9mm in 1902 as an alternative caliber for his famous pistol, he did so evidently under the assumption that it would be used for war (“parabellum”). Little did he know that, while true: it is the most prominent military sidearm caliber in the world, it would also become the most popular police, defense and recreational caliber in the western world. Speer’s Gold Dot 124 grain bullet is loaded to high pressure (+P), so care should be taken and consultation of the firearm’s manufacturer consulted to ensure safe use: this bullet can leave the muzzle at up to 1150 feet per second with 364 foot pounds of energy. It is designed for use out of short barreled, compact or concealed carry handguns.
In the past carrying a short barrel pistol meant sacrificing velocity and leaving some powders or propellants un-burnt. Recently some manufacturers have been introducing fast-burning ammunition designed for short barrels, to send bullets at their full speed out of barrels as short as 1.9 inches.
Speer is now creating their proven and trusted ammunition for small concealable pistols. These rounds are designed to function reliably and consistently from small and concealable pistols, and have been tested to have impressive expansion rates, velocity, and accuracy.
